Our client, a leading tech company, is looking for two System Designers to join our Experience Design team, with one serving in a lead capacity. This team is focused on unifying our current web experiences by developing and maintaining a cohesive design system.

You will be working on a variety of digital properties, including our public-facing websites and customer portals. Our goal is to consolidate 12 different sites, 5 brand generations, and 7 backend component systems into a single, user-friendly experience. This is not simply a reskinning project; it involves thoughtful design and problem-solving to create a seamless experience across all platforms.

What You’ll Do
Design & Develop the Design System: Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining a centralized design system in Figma. You will work with a wide variety of components (160+ and counting), from simple buttons to complex elements like dropdowns and calendars, ensuring they are functional, consistent, and on-brand.

Collaborate on Brand Alignment: Work directly with the Brand 2.0 team and internal stakeholders to extend the existing brand identity to be suitable for information-dense websites.

Ensure Handoff & Implementation: Partner closely with front-end engineering teams to ensure a seamless handoff from design to development. This includes delivering well-structured Figma files that can be used to build components in platforms like React and Lit.

Act as a UX/UI Champion: While the role is focused on the design system, you should have a strong understanding of user experience principles and a “superpower” in component design. You will perform UX QA to ensure the as-designed vision is maintained across all platforms.

Contribute to a Collaborative Team: You will be part of a centralized design team that includes UX designers and researchers. This is a highly collaborative environment, and you will work with product owners, developers, and technical program managers. The team uses an agile methodology with sprints.

Take on a Leadership Role (for the Senior Position): The Staff Product Designer (IC4) will act as a lead, responsible for “cat herding” and “shuttle diplomacy” between engineering, the brand team, and designers. The Senior Product Designer (IC3) will focus more on production tasks.

What We’re Looking For
Experience: 5+ years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on design systems and component libraries. Your portfolio should demonstrate your ability to distill complex problems into elegant solutions.

Technical Familiarity: Experience with front-end technologies such as JSON, React, Lit, and CSS. You should also have an understanding of design tokens.

Tools: Proficiency in Figma and Miro.

Soft Skills: A strong ability to communicate and influence. We need someone who can “speak both languages”—design and engineering—and make intelligent suggestions rather than simply pushing back. You should be proactive and able to manage complexity in a fast-paced environment.

Project Scope: A strong understanding of the full design lifecycle, from concept to launch. You’ll work on both visual and UX aspects for various websites, ensuring the design system works for desktop and mobile platforms.
