As a Music Content Operations Lead with a leading artist services company, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of music distribution and artist support. This exciting role calls for a passionate and experienced Music Content Operations Specialist to define and execute distribution, rights management, and artist support strategies. You’ll be a key player in ensuring smooth releases, managing complex projects, and optimizing the artist experience. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to onboard new artists and flawlessly execute release campaigns.
  • Champion timelines, processes, and documentation to minimize risk and maximize success.
  • Guide music and marketing teams on release plans, lead times, and deadlines.
  • Approve, deliver, and ensure seamless go-live for content metadata and deliverables across various platforms.
  • Plan, drive, document, and manage multifaceted operations and metadata projects.
  • Cultivate and maintain operational relationships with distribution partners.
  • Provide exceptional artist support, prioritizing their needs while adhering to critical requirements.
  • Manage artist rights and user-generated content claims on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Meta.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (legal, tax, policy, support, etc.) to prepare new features for launch.
  • Strategize with the Product & Business team to optimize the platform for artists.
  • Oversee testing and bug reviews of new features.
  • Drive continuous improvement and boundary-pushing initiatives.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Strong music operational experience with a reputable label or distributor, focused on release management.
  • Deep expertise and experience with African music and modern genres, along with familiarity with Hip-Hop, Pop, and Soul/R&B.
  • Proven project management and critical thinking skills to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks across teams, meeting deadlines and delivering quality results.
  • Excellent technical experience with digital music distribution, including deep knowledge of metadata, tools, systems, and workflows.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented approach to achieving goals through documentation, process innovation, and project tracking.
  • In-depth knowledge of major digital music platforms and their metadata specifications and content management systems.
  • Experience providing requirements and quality assurance, working with product and engineering teams.
  • Proven experience managing multiple complex, international, large-scale, time-critical projects.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and written skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • YouTube Certification
  • Experience with data analysis and tools like Excel, Numbers, Tableau, or similar applications.
  • Above-average presentation skills.
