As a Data Engineer on the Customer Domain Data Foundation team, you’ll be instrumental in building the data products that fuel personalized experiences and drive business decisions. Partnering with data engineers and stewards, you’ll play a vital role in implementing a data mesh, transforming raw data into valuable, accessible insights. This position offers the exciting challenge of shaping the future of data at a global organization.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines, leveraging SQL, Python, and potentially Apache Beam (Dataflow) and PySpark.
  • Implement and maintain data quality checks, ensuring accuracy and reliability of data products.
  • Develop and maintain data models, metadata management processes, and data harmonization procedures.
  • Manage data access and integration with the central data platform.
  • Collaborate with product and software engineering teams to ensure seamless data integration.
  • Document processes and best practices to ensure discoverability and maintainability.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of the current tech stack, best practices, and security measures.
  • Champion the data mesh philosophy and guide colleagues in its implementation.

This is a short term, 3 months contract role, with the possibility for extension. 

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data products within a data mesh architecture.
  • Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with data governance principles, including data classification, metadata standards, harmonization, and data quality management.
  • Solid understanding of data masking techniques and best practices.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and DataOps principles, including tools like GitHub Actions and Terraform.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including advanced knowledge of Google BigQuery (GBQ), with GBQ Sharing.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Apache Beam (Dataflow) and/or PySpark.
  • Familiarity with GCP tools for data pipelines, such as Cloud Run (jobs) and Workflows.
  • Experience with dbt for data modeling and transformation pipelines.
  • Experience with stakeholder management, including working with software engineers and product owners.
